I do not subscribe to the beliefs of any religion, but this time of the year means much to me, because of the message it brings to us all. Please allow me to do a little preachin' here.
If not in the religious sense, I am a Christian in the Spiritual sense, because to me, personally, the message of The Christ goes far beyond religion and the thoughts of Man. That is, to Love one another is the best way to both physical and Spiritual health.
And that message is simple. Giving of ourselves means no more or less of a sacrifice than sharing. Treating others the way we want to be treated is not such a bad idea. That should transcend all conflict in belief or conviction.
The reason I respect musicians--no matter how reprehensible the social behavior of some of them may seem to some of us--is that in their creation and performance, they are sharing all that they have, from the deepest depths of their Being. In return, they receive nothing more or less than appreciation. We, in our everyday relationships with others, should strive for that sense of giving and receiving.
No matter what our beliefs or convictions are, let's treat this season as a time to celebrate our existance, and our relationships with each other. We may sometimes get lost in our expectations, but when one has a friend for life, that is something to be cherished. Forget the expectations you have of that friendship, just love the friendship itself

I have little to offer, in way of gifts, but I wish to share, with those of you who have not yet found it, the link to
The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics website.
While there, I found this wonderful
essay on Franklin's Tower, by Robert Hunter
No matter what your religious beliefs, or spiritual convictions, I wish everybody a Happy Solstice, a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hannukah, a Meaningful Kwanzaa, and a Happy New Year.
