I am still having problems getting on line, but since I am here, here is something for all to enjoy! To me, this picture of a Sunrise in Colorado, taken just a week ago, says "Peace."

I once got into a "wall to wall" discussion on Facebook with a friend of mine, who was convinced that one had to be high on drugs to appreciate Grateful Dead music. She explained that she had friends who were "so high they couldn't tell me the name of one song."
It is likely that her friends were high on drugs, but it is just as likely that they were, like most of us who went to Greatful Dead shows, high on the music. How do you explain to someone who has never experienced a Dead show that it i…

So whats been going on?
Hello fellow Jammy's
Its Spring and I am Stoked!
Over the winter I got addicted to Twitter
Took me out like a buxom blond!
I would give you the link and all but that would mean I am turning you on to something that is highly addictive and not good for you. As if I sent you all a crack pipe and said fill her up.
So being a responsible dude and not wanting to hurt anyone
Let me just say
Stay away from Twitter!
It's the worse addictive web application yet
But at least it…

This is what we get to see after (over) 400 years when Tycho Brahe observed and reported a Super Nova. That would be a burned out exploding star. Ooh, we know some o them ourselves. Is this what they will look like in 400 years?

Back in June of this year,
Rolling Stone Magazine's on-line
Rock&Roll Daily blog reported that members of Phish had been meeting and discussing a possible reunion. The widely popular and extremely talented jam band had called it quits after 2004, and a reunion has been in the rumor mill ever since then. Needless to say,…

I do not subscribe to the beliefs of any religion, but this time of the year means much to me, because of the message it brings to us all. Please allow me to do a little preachin' here.
If not in the religious sense, I am a Christian in the Spiritual sense, because to me, personally, the message of The Christ goes far beyond religion and the thoughts of Man. That is, to Love one another is the best way to both physical and Spiritual health.
And that message is simple. Giving of ourselves means…

Before he began his musical career as a session drummer, at the age of 14, Mitch Mitchell had already made a name as a child actor on the BBC TV series
Jennings at School and in several feature films. In 1966, he began making Rock and Roll history when he joined bassist Noel Redding and Guitarist Jimi Hendrix in the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Wednesday, November 12, after completing an 18 city American tour with the Experience Hendrix concert series, Mitchell passed away in Portland, Orego…

On the main page music player, you will find a set featuring a "mega"
Playin' in the Band "sandwich" performed by Phil Lesh and Friends last month. The line up includes Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. They are joined by Warren Haynes, of Guv't Mule, Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, and the Dead Reunion Tour, on guitar and vocals, and Ratdog's Jeff Chimenti (I may be wrong here) on keyboards.
It really isn't the same without Jerry, but even now, these gu…

In spite of a flub on the PA system early in the show, this is one of my favorites of the incidents I never attended. It occured a mere eight weeks before my first live incident.
Saenger Theatre, in New Orleans, is one of those acoustically near perfect venues that we all have enjoyed so much. I don't know if Saenger survived Katrina, so if anyone has any information on that, let me know. It would be a shame if it was no longer around.
At this particular show, the band stands out in working to…

It was my intent to express my feelings and emotions about the concerts I attended, so the music was for a large part neglected in my first few blog entries. Every Dead Show and String Cheese Incident I attended left me in awe to the point of nearly being overwhelmed by the energy and passion for the music, so I couldn't listen to it objectively. Thanks to
Archive.org, we can revisit those shows and maybe present the music more objectively. I…

McNichols Arena, August 14, 1979. This is the first Grateful Dead show I remember, and, technically it was my first Grateful Dead show, as I had been to Dead venues before only to find out it had been sold out and had to settle for trying to hear what I could while tailgating outside.
I was in the Air Force at the time and had recently returned from a tour in Germany. It happened that five of us working on the same shift were Deadheads, and when we saw that the concert date, which was originall…

In February of 2000 I walked into a record store and heard some of the most extraordinary music I had ever heard in my life. It was a live recording of a band that seemed to exist outside of ordinary music genres. The band sounded tight, as they travelled effortlessly from bluegrass, to jazz, to funk, to a combination of all three, and then back to bluegrass. And that was all one song. I stayed in the store, browsing, for quite a long time, just so I could hear what else this mystery band had to…

In celebration of Jerry Garcia's Birthday, August 1, we present some Jerry quotes, as compiled from the site
Brainy Quote.com:
And as far as I'm concerned, it's like I say, drugs are not the problem. Other stuff is the problem.
And for me there's still more material than 20 lifetimes that I can use up.
And the live show is still our main thing.
And there's a lot of that stuff with people bringing th…

We drove around for a while looking for a place to camp for the night where we didn't have to pay a parking or camping fee. About twelve miles outside of Santa Fe, near the lovely town of La Cienega, in the dark, we found what seemed to be a vacant piece of public property and set up camp there. We had come to Santa Fe in three vehicles, and these served as our shelter. The ladies slept in the vehicles, while the rest of us slept with our heads, at least, under them, as there was an intermitent…

The Grateful Dead at The Downs of Santa Fe, September 10, 1983--The show didn't start out all that well. Bobby sounded as if he had lost his voice at the very beginning, but a friend assured me that it would get better. It did. Still, the band seemed as if they were rushing everything in the first set, and perhaps they were, because there was a powerful storm threatening. They did manage to finish the set in style, with a high energy version of "China Cat Sunflower" seguing into "I Know You Ride…
