"The Music Never Stopped"

I know it's a day early, but I don't know if I will be able to get back on line before Monday, so I am sending Phil Birthday wishes now. In honor of his birthday, and just for fun, I am adding his classic "Meet the Joneses" rap from 11-04-77 to the main mp3 player on the front page. (Download this concert, if you can. Even if you don't like Donna, it is a great show that you will probably enjoy over and over again.

I don't know if anybody will read this, but back in 1983, when we were on our way to the show at Santa Fe Downs, we were in traffic headed into the venue. A car went by us with police escort, and one of my friends waved and yelled "Hey Phil!"

"That was Phil," she told the rest of us. Somehow, I didn't make the connection. I knew a Phil, and I wondered why he would have a police escort to go to the concert. Then, recently, i was reading "Searching For The Sound--My Life With The Grateful Dead" by Phil Lesh. He wrote that he wanted to get away from the air travel, and view the countryside with his wife. He specifically mentioned that he drove to Santa Fe for the concert in 1983.

D'oh!

Mystery solved.
